Pennies by Pepper Winters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
!10 stars!!!
I can't believe that I did not read this book before!
I'm blown away! This was my first book by Pepper Winters and I'm glad to say that it will not be the last.
The writing style had me hooked right from the beginning and didn't let go until I'd finished it and then demanded for more. I guess I'm lucky that all the books of this series are already out because I don't think I could have handled not knowing what happens next.
The story is of a girl,Tasmin later renamed Pimloco, who was a psychology student in her earlier life but was abducted and sold in sex trafficking. Pepper Winters takes us to the horrors of that world.
The helplessness, the self destructive capability and all the pain had me in knots throughout the whole book.
This book was the very definition of dark.
Most of the book focuses on the one night Pim spent withElder Prest which is the turning point in her life.
Sensitive themes of murder, suicide and rape are present. Considering there was no actual sex in this book(trust me, zilch, nada, None!), the other themes overtake.
I'm jumping to the next book right away!
