Just One Year by Penelope Ward
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5 stars
I figured that this review was long overdue so here it is.
Like I said before, I didn't even read the blurb before buying this book. All I saw was - new release, Penelope Ward and a hot cover, and I was a goner.
What bugs me most is that I don't even know why I didn't I like this book so much. This is not the first book by Penelope I've read. I'm well aware of her epic writing style and seriously, I figuratively salivate for more from her. Roomhate, Stepbrother dearest, Neighbor dearest, Sins of Sevin, you name it, I've read it. And I loved them all too!
The story starts with a sophomore year student, Teagen meeting with a freshman, foreign exchange student Caleb. Their first meeting had me laughing my ass off!
Events unfold and before we know Caleb and Teagen are roommates.
Caleb is a Brit with a charming personality. I loved his POV's. He has some issues back home but he's trying to make the best of his situation. He's intrigued by Teagen, platonically at first but gradually their feelings take over.
Teagen is an introvert and a genius. She's closed off from the start but as the story progresses, we see Caleb helping her out off her shell.
Without giving away the plot, I'll just say that this was a nice, light read.
Will I re-read this? No
Will I read the next book from the author? Definitely Yes!
