Angry God by L.J. Shen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Boy,This was intense!
But honestly, what more could you expect from Vicious' spawn?
This is the third book in the All Saint's Highseries and one of the most anticipated books of 2020, because come-on... It's L.J Shen!
Vaughn Spencer is the child of Vicious and Emilia, our primary characters from the book one of Sinners of the Saint series and before proceeding to talk about Angry God, I gotta say that Vicious was absolutely outstanding and one of my most favorite book of all time! Followed closely by Sparrow (The things my heart does at the mere mention of Troy Brennan....)
Anyways, I liked this book, the storyline was amazing. What stole that one star from it was the execution.
This was like Vicious rebooted but only not that good.
I couldn't help but compare both the books at some point reminding myself that Vicious too bullied Emilia because he thought she'd heard something that she shouldn't have, same way Vaughn bullied Lenny because he thought she'd seen something she shouldn't have. Only Vaughn chemistry with Lenny wasn't as strong as between his parents.
His bullying methods were more childish than cruel (public blow jobs didn't impress me).
We knew something was wrong with Vaughn from the preceding books and honestly, the first thing I'd guessed was Child Abuse and I was right. Shen's writing skills still blows my mind. Her ability to capture such strong emotions in flawless words is absolutely commendable.
The only thing I felt was that this book should have been more Vaughn-Lenny than just Vaughn.
Lenora Astalis is an artist who believes beauty can be found in ugly and useless things. Frankly, I loved her art and her passion and the way she held herself. She was sassy and refreshing and I loved her for her spine. She had few issues herself. In more ways than one, she was the perfect heroine for a character like Vaughn.
I just wish that unnecessary parts (Arabella and Edgar's relationship and Rafferty Pope's intervention) were not given so much weight.
But all in all This was absolutely amazing!
